Landscapes for Living
Promoting biodiversity in the landscape

The West Midlands Biodiversity Partnership (WMBP) recognises the importance of planning and delivering results at a landscape scale. The West Midlands Biodiversity Strategy Restoring the Region's Wildlife identifies a number of key challenges for the Region, one of which is "Developing an area based approach to restoring wildlife".

This is reflected in the West Midlands in the inclusion of policies relating to Biodiversity Enhancement Areas (BEAs) in the Regional Spatial Strategy and in the increasing number of landscape scale projects being developed by a range of biodiversity organisations at regional and local levels.

The Landscapes for Living project seeks to build upon this foundation by developing a 50 year vision for enhancing and restoring biodiversity in the region. Stage 1 is now complete.
